Little White Lies

This is a brilliant film documenting the making of the current 'Black Swan' themed edition of the movie mag Little White Lies. It makes me wish terribly that I worked in that world, particularly for a publication that is so clearly passionate about not only the content of the magazine but also the aesthetics. The amount of hand drawn imagery found along the more expected photoshop layouts really makes it stand out within the movie magazine genre.

The Rime of the Modern Mariner

I have finally got around to finishing this poster after coming back to it on a number of occasions. As a bit of a departure from my usual gig posters (though there is a musical link) this poster is my response to an amazing film I had the honour to see at it's premiere in London last April. The documentary film 'The Rime of the Modern Mariner' which was written and directed by my sister-in-law's boyfriend Mark Donne is an ode to mariners both past and present that worked and still work the docklands of East London. The film also happens to be narrated by Mark's good friend Carl Barat (The Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things) and the score composed by Anthony Rossomando

The poster was fairly painstakingly put together in Illustrator which I'm still quite new to. Here are some of the details below.

Gruff Rhys - Work in Progress

After seeing the incredible Gruff Rhys at The Whitworth Art Gallery here in Manchester recently I knew I wanted to make a poster to remember it by. Unfortunately I don't seem to have got much further than making Gruff's rather distinctive guitar. This is partly because it's taking me a while to get my head around Illustrator, especially when trying to create anything textured like the faded swirls that he has painted on it. Oh well no doubt I'll get it finished eventually.
