Oueens of the Stone Age

A poster I made for Big Hands for an after-party that actually I don't think ever happened. I was at the Queens gig myself but was so soaked through with sweat after dancing all night the only thing calling me after the gig was a long shower so I never really found out for sure. Anyway the poster was a great brief and I really enjoyed making it AND it became the last of 18 gig posters to feature in my final exhibition, but more on that later.

Ricardo Cavolo Worship

You know when you see the work of an artist and you just want to be them and you want to be able to do what they do so badly and you honestly don't know how they do it as it is clearly so personal to them and therefore you realise you could never do what they do and it makes you sad? Do you? (Breathe!) Well for me that artist is Ricardo Cavolo.

Here are a collection of some illustrations he made of a number of rock and roll royals. Do you think if I look at them long enough I'll absord his genius? No? Me neither. Oh well, enjoy:

NEW YORK DOLLS

Another commission for Big Hands who are throwing an after-gig-shindig for what should be an amazing event at the neighbouring Academy. I was asked to use an original b&w photograph of the band from the 70s but I just couldn't resist making my own drawing of it and using lots of super-trashy colours and prints.

Little White Lies

This is a brilliant film documenting the making of the current 'Black Swan' themed edition of the movie mag Little White Lies. It makes me wish terribly that I worked in that world, particularly for a publication that is so clearly passionate about not only the content of the magazine but also the aesthetics. The amount of hand drawn imagery found along the more expected photoshop layouts really makes it stand out within the movie magazine genre.
